John Baird and Mike Wallace to present the Federal Accountability Act.

BURLINGTON- The Burlington Chamber of Commerce will host John Baird, President of the Treasury Board and Mike Wallace, MP on Tuesday April 18th at 12 o’clock in Halton Hall at the Holliday Inn Burlington.

Messrs Baird and Wallace will be speaking on the legislation and action plan on behalf of the Government of Canada. Members of the Burlington Chamber and citizens of Burlington will be in attendance.

“The Government of Canada is committed to rebuilding the confidence and trust of Canadians. That is why, on April 11, 2006, the Federal Accountability Act and action plan was introduced.” Said Mike Wallace from his office in Burlington.

“The action plan is about making government more effective and accountable. It is about clarifying roles and responsibilities and having the right controls in place. With these proposed measures, our government is delivering on its commitment to stand up for accountability. I am delighted to have the President of the Treasury Board here to present this landmark legislation to the people of my community.”

Through the Federal Accountability Act, the Government of Canada is bringing forward specific measures to help strengthen accountability and increase transparency and oversight in government operations.
